For the Love of Uhunye

Forget Hugo Chavez or the Jose' Mujica's of this world.Enter the new love and whiz kid,Mr Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta fondly baptized by Kenya's twitter amicus as Uhunye.

On his way to the departure lounge,he stole the show again. This time showing his selfless self by wittingly presenting his tools of trade to his deputy Mr Ruto.By invoking a constitutional provision and consequently appointing the latter as the head whilst attending a status conference at the Hague, criticism as well as appreciation were rife. Baba's aides were as usual up in arms that the president short stint at the Hague did not,at most, warrant such fan fare

But that's just an exception.Let's all rack our memories.A couple of weeks ago,( I was, albeit reluctant to hit the keyboard then for fear of being called a sycophant) Uhuru pledged that the government would cater for a girl who, through the help of her colleagues had launched an appeal of support through national television citing it as a setback towards accomplishing her life's goals.

At the moment,we presume that the pledge is a success and that the girl is imperceptibly unchained herself from the bandwagon of malfunction that had threatened to incapacitate her just like her teachers had put.

The world over is slowly but certainly showing some appreciation and bromance for this common looking but towering figure in Muigai.

Inset:Mr Kenyatta the new colossus in town

Or should we draw a line of best fit between him and his predecessors,he would surely regress to its linearity.Unlike his father,Jomo who would ward off critics of his regime  at the slightest provocation of his demeanor,he's humble enough to accept jibes and memes directed at him without having to sue anyone for libel or slander.

So when Cord rallied behind baba at Uhuru park, security was beefed cause there's no place for lawlessness at public places (this can hurt tourism) a paradigm shift only propagated by jubilee leadership as sealed down under by their impeccable manifesto.

Has that whip chap Lengo Mzombe been bailed out yet?But then he was tired of calls for referendum. He was tired of 'Okoa Kenya' dignitaries traversing the counties and wooing Wananchi to support a lifeless proposition that was headed nowhere.'So,the jubilee regime was not to be given time to implement its course?'He lingered. So his tempers flared to the extent that wouldn't resist the urge to beat the 'calls' outta the former premiere and the governor of his own turf

The deeds the president has done is simply an imposition to outline. He was forefront in leading his army of cabinet secretaries and other state officials in taking the dreaded pay cut amid escalating public wage bills which surmounted to ultimate disaster given the national deficit in our public coffers.
Recently, the re basement of GDP indices elevated Kenya,an impoverished  country associated with disease, pestilence and blatant corruption to a fancy status-the middle income status. So my query would be;To whom is this achievement attributed to?

For once let me give credence to where it's due.due. Kibaki set a good precedence save for the skirmishes that erupted at the end of his first term in office.Raila as always is the best president Kenya's never had.Mark my words-am just thinking out loud. Uhuru, please keep the lantern burning.

An Odious Debt

It was one of those sully days in the summer when it happened. It had been rainy all morning and the sun was yet to shoot itself out of the clouds. Outside, it was hectic. The grass had been mowed to perfection and some trees had started to fruit. Some birds, chirping into the noontide, remained perched atop of a rowan tree in its effervescent grace. He waited with baited breath. In the minute that followed, he was beginning to grow tired of his heart pounding soundly. He felt as though something ominous was about to unfold. ''Yes, I did it. Once'' All this time, he had remained seated and pregnant with anticipation. Now, he couldn't. A certain feeling of consternation creeped in and he just stared at the message in disbelief. He knew it was always coming to that, and he somehow convinced himself that it wasn't happening. He had always stood on business. He had been confident his past misgivings had been forgiven. His marriage had been one big leap of fait...

Kenyan Politicians in a Classroom Context

In matters Kenyan politics, Tinga is that brusque know-it-all bully in the school. Walks around with unkempt hair, rarely tucks in his shirt, hits out at everybody at the slightest or no provocation and never apologizes. He is, however, loved by his classroom majority for his indecent jokes about the school administration and for his enviable football skills. Everybody agrees he is an excellent footballer despite the fact that he has scored blanks in virtually all major interclass competitions. He has been the de facto captain and the “ever-fit” most reliable striker for his class but has never led them to a single trophy. He has shielded himself from ridicule by a surrounding himself with hangers on that form the school’s (read Tinga’s ) cheering squad. His teammates, since form one, have accused him of selfishness and gross violations of team ethics. He lacks the ability to work in a team, bosses everyone around and some even accuse him of using voodoo in the games. Now in for...

Babaa, Mama & I

He passed away on the wee hours of July, the 3rd. Shortly before 4 am or 5 am, or maybe before 9.54 am when I called and he wasn't answering. No one knows the exact time his strength left him or the time his spirit flashed away. He was in high spirits shortly before he retired to bed after watching a game of football. No one knew that was the last time they'd see him alive and unwell. And chained to a wheeler. And groaning in pain.    He had been taken to MTRH the day before his passing for a CT scan, and a MIR scan and a host of other tests that would unravel the malady that had tormented him for years. He was keen to beat it, wrestle it and cast into damnation a condition that had confined him to a wheelchair.    He was in high spirits on their way back after a day with specialists at the Eldoret Hospital. He had been inoculated with tranquilizers and anesthesia. Mostly the extracts from his frame, and torso was rudimentary. His bones had lost their mojo a...
